About

My name is Wendy but my grandkids call me Nana Sue. I am the mother to 3 beautiful daughters and grandmother to 6 of the most amazing grandkids. I am a Health Coach and a photographer. I live in Maryland with my amazing husband Mark and my  fur baby Peyton. My passion for helping people started with fitness but has evolved into so much more.

The idea for Nana Sue Photography~Healing Images started to develop in the summer of 2018. It was my second year photographing a summer camp at the Wellness House of Annapolis. The Paint Your Rainbow camp is a week long day camp that is open to all children whose lives have been impacted by cancer. It was there that I met a sweet girl L.  who had just recently lost her Dad to pancreatic cancer.

On day 2 I happened to notice she seemed a little quiet and the idea came to me to ask her to help with taking photos. I typically bring along extra cameras just in case one malfunctions. It didn’t take me long to notice the change in her but what I didn’t expect to happen was a long line of other children who wanted a “turn”.  By day 3 I had to have a sign up sheet to keep tract of whose turn it was.  At the end of the week L. expressed an interest in learning more about photography. I made arrangements with her Mom and we spent an amazing day together at a local park. The picture that I use on my brochures and business cards is one that was taken that day at the park.

The decision to officially start a non profit came the day that her mother text me and said “She’s been super joyful lately and she finds passion in photography”.

I  started to  realize that amazing things happened to others  when they began to see the world through the lens of a camera. It is my goal to be able to bring photography workshops as a fun, creative way to help children  express themselves through non verbal communication, and as a way to become more self aware and confident.
