Workshop Showcase

Day At The Park

This was my very first workshop with an amazing young girl. The assignment was to fill the frame and make the picture more interesting. I think she nailed it!

Unforeseen Beauty

This workshop was to find beauty in unforeseen places. It’s my belief that if  we are willing to look hard enough we can always find the beauty.

Signs

This workshop was about thinking of a word or emotion and then finding signs in the park and spelling  out the word. The bonus picture was if you could find a tree that symbolized your word. I just love this collection of pictures!

A-Z Election Day Workshop

A workshop was held on  Election Day and  the assignment was to find something to photograph for each letter of the alphabet. In the spirit of elections and voting we decided to vote on  the picture we liked best from each child. Here are the winners from Nana Sue Photography~Healing Images Election Day A-Z workshop.

Dog Park

There’s something magical about spending time at the dog park when you are a child. A dog park can turn any day into a fun, happy, loving day. Today’s workshop was going to be about freezing motion and learning more about shutter speed. Even though these girls nailed it I think they enjoyed   interacting with the dogs more  and even getting to know the owners. There is something special about holding a camera in your hand, it’s almost like a superhero shield that makes you believe in yourself and your abilities.

Stef Ripple Hidden Beauty Workshop

Stef Ripple and Nana Sue Photography teamed up to help support children of ovarian cancer patients. The workshop was held on November 25th and the weather was beyond perfect. We took a walk around a pond that Stef enjoyed taking many walks on. I took a few walks with her on that trail so I knew it was the perfect place to take pictures. I told the children there is no such thing as a bad picture if you like it. They went on a journey to find hidden beauty or  anything that inspired them to photograph. I am still smiling about the workshop and the beautiful images that they captured.

Abstract Workshop

Once again the rain altered our plans a little but that didn’t stop us from having fun and learning a few new tricks. We started out by painting our own background then we  set up a little studio and got busy clicking away!

I Am Workshop

Photographs are a great way to express who you are or what you are feeling. This was such a fun workshop as the children expressed themselves through photographing each other. I even had a chance to get in on the fun! They even had a little homework to write themselves a note about how they were feeling while that were making an I am statement through photography.

Composition

Working with a group of home school children was so much fun as we explored several rules of composition. They were taught about the rule of thirds, leading lines and filling the frame. I think they nailed it! I am in awe of the great shots.

Paint Your Rainbow

After 3 years of being the event photographer I had the privilege of bringing my workshops to this amazing camp. Paint Your Rainbow camp is a week long day camp that supports children ages 6-12 who have experienced cancer in their families. This camp is held at the beautiful Wellness House of Annapolis and as you can see from the video the campers learn to understand and express feelings though art, music, exercise and friendship.
